Terms of Use

1. Who these terms are with

Islet (the “app”, “service”, “we”, “us”) is operated by samko labs, s. r. o., registered at Trnková 451/12, 040 14 Košice - mestská časť Košická Nová Ves, Slovakia, company registration number (IČO) 53928881, VAT number (DIČ) 2121532600.

By downloading, opening or using Islet you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app. How we handle your data is described separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

2. Who may use Islet

You must be at least 16 years old to use Islet. If you use it on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.

3. Your account

Opening the app creates an anonymous account so it works before you sign up. You can later sign in with an email one-time code or with Sign in with Apple, which upgrades that anonymous account in place and keeps the content already in it.

You are responsible for keeping access to your email address and Apple account secure, and for the activity that happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

An anonymous account exists only on the device that created it. If you lose that device, delete the app or reset it, that account and its content may become permanently unreachable. Sign in if you want your content to survive.

4. Your content

The documents you upload, the text you share for a suggestion and the instructions you set remain yours. We claim no ownership over them.

You grant us the limited licence needed to run the service for you: to store your content, extract and index its text, and send the relevant passages to the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy so an answer can be generated. That licence exists only to provide the service to you and ends when you delete the content or your account. Your content is not used to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.

You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that doing so does not infringe anyone's rights or breach a confidentiality obligation you are under.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• upload content you have no right to use, or content that is unlawful;
• use Islet to break the law, infringe someone's rights, or harass anyone;
• attempt to access another user's account or content;
• probe, scan, overload or otherwise interfere with the service or its infrastructure;
• circumvent rate limits, usage limits or subscription checks, or resell access to the service;
• use automated means to extract the service's data beyond what the app itself offers.

6. Subscriptions and payment

Islet is free to use with limits. Islet Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered monthly or yearly. The current prices, any free trial and the renewal period are shown in the app before you purchase.

• Purchases are made through, and billed by, Apple on your App Store account. We never see or handle your payment details.
• The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• You manage and cancel a subscription in your Apple account settings, not in Islet. Deleting your Islet account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel it with Apple.
• If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves, but write to us and we will help where we can.

We may change prices. A change never affects a period you have already paid for, and Apple will ask you to agree before a renewal at a higher price.

7. What Islet's answers are — and are not

Islet retrieves passages from the documents you gave it and uses an AI model to answer from them. It is built to refuse rather than guess when your documents do not support an answer, and to cite what it used. It can still be wrong, incomplete or misleading.

Answers are informational. They are not legal, medical, financial, tax or other professional advice, and you should not rely on them as such. Check anything that matters against the cited source before acting on it.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Islet available and working, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may impose or adjust usage limits where needed to keep the service running for everyone. Where a change materially reduces what a paid subscription gives you, we will tell you in advance.

We may update these terms. The effective date above changes when we do, and we will notify you in the app or by email before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use Islet after that means you accept the updated terms.

9. Ending it

You can stop using Islet at any time and delete your account in the app, under Settings. Deleting is permanent: it removes your account, your documents and their indexed passages, and your chats.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.

10. Disclaimers

Except for what is guaranteed by law that cannot be excluded, Islet is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app's output is accurate, complete or fit for any particular decision.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your mandatory consumer rights under Slovak and EU law, which these terms do not affect.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, data or goodwill, and our total liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Islet in the twelve months before the claim, or €50.

12. Apple

These terms are between you and samko labs, s. r. o., not with Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Islet and is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. If Islet fails to conform to any warranty Apple is required to give, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation for the app.

You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Slovak Republic, and the courts of the Slovak Republic have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.
